Big Santa Anita Canyon, in the San Gabriel Mountains just north of Arcadia, offers a variety of challenging mountain biking and hiking trails. Three routes are marked on the map and described in detail. They all start from Chantry Flat where the pack station offers refreshments, parking and other facilities. Try some of these suggested routes or just adventure on your own, using this map and the routes as a guide.

Gabrielino Trail

Upper Winter Creek Trail

Lower Winter Creek Trail

First Water Trail

Robert’s Road

Zion Trail

Stock Trail

People’s or Upper Falls Trail

San Olene Fire Road

The following are extracts from the Chantry Flat Map :-

Yellow Route – This is a straight forward out and back ride of 7.4 miles on the San Olene Fire Road. It should take about 2 hours to bike or 3 hours to hike and climbs to a great viewpoint overlooking Arcadia and the LA area….

Red Route – The red route is an extreme mountain bike ride, or a long hike, mostly on high quality single track. In places the path has steep drop-offs and great care is needed.
